FESTIVAL season has arrived – so why not give your hairstyle some welly with these boho looks?
Our top tips will ensure there’s no need to mud-dle through as you have a field day with your trouble-free tresses.
Here, LYNSEY CLARKE shows how to create four dance- defying ’dos with the help of hairdresser to the stars, Salon Science brand ambassador Andrew Jose, and Nalan Derby.
THE DOUBLE BUBBLE
Step 1: Create a centre parting using a comb by splitting the hair from the front to the back of your head.
Step 2: Make pigtails at either side of the head at crown level.
Lightly spray each bunch with hairspray such as TRES-emme Extra Hold Hair Spray (£3, Boots) to give support as you create volume in bubble segments in the next step.
Step 3: To create the segments, fix clear elastic bands at 2in gaps on each bunch, spacing them evenly and ensure each side matches.
THE PLAITED TOP KNOTS
Step 1: Prep the hair with Salon Science Swiss Apple Cellumax Volumising Foam (£15, Boots).
Scrunch through roots and mid-lengths.
Step 2: Create a centre parting and do one Dutch braid on either side, working from the forehead backwards and stopping at the crown.
Secure with a clear elastic band.
Step 3: Scrunch the loose hair at the ends of the braids to form a bun and secure with a snag-free hair band.
Spritz with hairspray and add festival-inspired hair jewellery down the centre.
THE BIG TEXTURED PONY
Step 1: Section off the top piece of hair at the crown and clip away.
Step 2: Create French braids at each side, starting from the temples. Secure with a clear band.
Lightly backcomb the top section that was clipped away to create height and gently smooth backwards using a soft brush.
Step 3: Pull the braids and the top section together to create a ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with a band.
Use a hair cuff around the base of the ponytail to add detail.
THE BOHO PLAITS
Step 1: To create a dishevelled textured look, spritz the Lee Stafford Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray (£7.99, Boots) through hair lengths and scrunch in.
Step 2: Create micro plaits by taking small sections of hair from the top of the head and forming a simple braid.
Secure this with a clear elastic hair band. Repeat several times randomly around hair.
Step 3: To finish, wrap a covered wire headband around your head, bringing it together at the top of the head.
Tie in a bow at the forehead.
