Notorious internet troll Martin Shkreli offered $5,000 for a strand of Hillary Clinton’s hair in an online posting — then was forced to claim that it was all a joke after cyberspace accused him of condoning violence against her.
“The Clinton Foundation is willing to KILL to protect its secrets,” the pharma felon first wrote on his Facebook page Monday. “So on HRC’s book tour, try to grab a hair from her. I must confirm the sequences I have. Will pay $5,000 per hair obtained from Hillary Clinton.”
But the 34-year-old had to backtrack Tuesday after a screenshot of his comment made its way into the Twitterverse, inciting rage.
“(this is satire, meant for humor and not an endorsement of violence against a truly wonderful public servant)” Shkreli said.
The loudmouth, who has been vocal about his dislike of Clinton in the past, has been amping up the jokes on her expense in recent days — in one instance posting a photo of himself holding up a bio-hazard bag he claimed contained the former Secretary of State’s DNA.
“What’s this, Hillary Clinton DNA, you say? How’d I get that? How’d I get Carter 5?” he wrote alongside the photo Aug. 30.
“Hillary Clinton whole exome sequence will reveal quite a bit about the former POTUS candidate,” he wrote in yet another status.
Shkreli, who was convicted on three counts of securities fraud in August, told his followers Tuesday he had plans to attend Clinton’s Sept. 12 book signing in Union Square.
“I will be peacefully protesting the Hillary Clinton book signing in NYC, chanting ‘lock her up’ with my friends,” the post read.
