Aïmara Coupet shares her go-to cosmetics brands for darker skin – The Sun Daily

BORN in Martinique and raised in Quebec, serious makeup player Aïmara Coupet knows her stuff when it comes to cosmetics for dark skin tones. Before heading to the MakeUp in Paris trade fair this week, the self-confessed colour cosmetics aficionado, who previously worked for black Up, France’s leading makeup brand for black and mixed skintones, shared her dark beauty intel.

We asked Coupet which premium beauty brands are the best for women of different ethnicities looking to perfect their makeup arsenal.

Naturally, black Up – founded in 1999 by Fabrice Mahabo, a make up artist from the Ivory Coast – is a favourite of hers, as Coupet previously headed the brand’s marketing department.

Women of colour can have a field day with black Up’s all-encompassing product range, which features makeup and skincare. Black Up’s bestseller Two Way Cake (US$39.50, RM169) two-in-one foundation for deeper skintones is a must (available in 12 different shades).

Shop blackUp’s extensive range at www.blackupcosmetics.com and discover a host of tutorials on strobing, contouring, colour correcting and ombre lips at www.blackupcosmetics.com/tutorials-video.

Becca Cosmetics is another go-to beauty line that Coupet highly recommends. Chrissy Teigen is also a fan. The US model turned lifestyle guru has co-designed a limited-edition Glow Face Palette (US$46, RM197) with Becca for the “perfect summer glow”.

A glowing makeup look can be achieved using Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Crème Highlighter in Champagne Pop (US$38, RM162) and Luminous Blush in Dahlia (US$34, RM145). Find those products as well as the best-selling Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème at www.beccacosmetics.com.

Coupet also recommends Ontario-based brand Cover FX, which retails at Sephora in the US and Canada and whose vegan and cruelty-free makeup formulas aim to offer a precise match based on skin’s undertones.

Cover FX caters to the fairest pink-based complexions, medium-brown or deeply tanned skin, right through to deepest rich ebony skin with neutral undertones.

Shop the Natural Finish Foundation line, featuring an impressive palette of 40 different shades (US$40, RM171), and its darker-skin-friendly Custom Enhancer Drops in Candlelight and bronzers in Sunkissed and Sunset (US$42, RM180) at www.coverfx.com. — AFP Relaxnews
