There’s a secret to Kate Middleton’s incredible skin, and the Duchess of Cambridge’s makeup artist Arabella Preston says it’s as simple as using something most of us can find around our home.
The secret is a terry-towel style washcloth, which Preston says is “an essential part to making sure you wash your face cleanly.”
She says using a flannel will clean your face, “more gently than any motorised cleanser brush, the right flannel will allow you to cleanly wipe makeup and dirt from your skin and gently exfoliate.”

Preston spoke with The Cut, explaining the right wash cloth can make all the difference when it comes to your skincare routine.
The makeup artist famously taught the Duchess of Cambridge how to do her own makeup ahead of her 2011 wedding to Prince William, with Middleton, 35, choosing strong eyeliner and grey taupe eyeshadow.
The beauty expert so believes in her method of skin care she developed a line of essential oils called Votary which include oils to cleanse, tone and moisturise the face.
“Skin absorbs a plant oil beautifully,” she told New York Social Diary, explaining the perfect way to cleanse your face is to use a small amount of oil cleanser.
“Just splashing some water on it won’t do the trick as the perspiration and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight will not slough off by themselves. Use a small amount of cleanser and gently wipe off with a warm washcloth,” she said.
The Duchess reportely favours Rosehip Oil for her skin, with a bottle of the product selling every 20 seconds since this was first reported.

US Weekly reported the mother-of-two used the product constantly while pregnant with Princess Charlotte.
If her incredible complexion is anything to go by, it might be time we all added essential oils to our beauty routines.
