Jasmine Hands is a Gold Coast makeup artist who turned to YouTube as a way of sharing her work online.

The 23-year-old, known as Makeup by Jaz, has spent more than two years uploading client makeup transformations to the video sharing website to gain 377,000 followers.

From YouTube alone, the mega star earns between $2,000-$5,000 – but she continues to freelance for clients on her weekends which brings in a further $2,000 a week.

‘I used to work behind a bar at a restaurant to earn money but I quit about a year ago and this is now my full time job,’ Miss Hands told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

The 23-year-old has a similar number of followers on her Instagram page too which can see her offered up to $3,000 to post a photo.

But she admits that taking the offer would make her feel like a ‘sellout’ and she’d rather stay accountable for her business.

‘I regularly post tutorials with my clients who have other face shapes or skin types so I can relate to more people. I’ve also started ‘vlogging’ my weddings. I always travel for weddings. I was recently flown to New Zealand.

‘I could never stop freelancing. All my friends have real jobs but I’m so obsessed with what I do,’ she said.

She admits that the typical ‘Gold Coast’ makeup look includes a winged liner, bold brows, tanned skin and ‘massive lashes’, but she prefers a softer touch on many of her clients.
