Mum’s Te Reo makeup tutorial an online hit – Stuff.co.nz

Rotorua mum and make-up artist Miria Flavell has had a beauty vlog for a while now – but she never expected it would blow up like this.

A makeup tutorial video entirely in te reo Maori has immediately became her most popular video, with more than 116,000 views on Facebook.

“I kept getting asked to do a video in Te Reo … I put it off cos I think I thought it was too different. I was too scared to do it,” Flavell told TVNZ.

Flavell has run a beauty business and vlog channel since early 2015. 

“What’s Maori for blending? And makeup brushes? Feel like I learned more maori here than I ever did through all my school years,” one commenter said on Facebook – Flavell promised she would find out for her next video.

“Please don’t make this your last vid in Te Reo Maori!” pleaded another.
